The registry contains a lot of information related to the Windows configuration. It is very difficult to do without the registry, incase of failure. It is very important to back it up before making any changes. To back up the registry manually click Start > Run and type ‘regedit' into the Open box. Click OK. First select File > Export, after giving a name to the file, click on Save.
- Check signing:
In order to launch the File Signature Verification tool Click File > Run, type ‘sigverif' and press [Enter] to check for unsigned files.
- Clean the Start menu:
in order to make it easier for the Start menu navigate by sorting all items into alphabetical order, Right-click any item and select Sort by Name. If more organization is needed, make use of an Explorer interface to organize your start menu items. Click right at the Start button and out of all the options select Explore.
- Keyboard response:
There are times when characters don't appear fast enough when you are typing. Speed up your keyboard's response time by opening Keyboard in Control Panel. Make adjustments in the repeat rate and repeat delay according to your typing style.
Reduce
virtual memory:
The virtual memory is generally allocated automatically by Windows. But in order to improve its performance you
can alter its. In the Start menu, right-click on My Computer and select
Properties. Under the Advanced tab go to the performance section and click Settings.
Over there click on Change and make the necessary changes to the virtual
memory. Reduce the virtual memory if you have a large amount of RAM to play
with.
